Lexia Reading is a computer-based Independent Learning System (ILS) with several programs.
It is predominantly phonics-based, beginning with phonemic awareness and moving to initial letter level, and then real and nonword decoding.
It also includes sight word, fluency and comprehension elements.
Pupils work through a program independently and at their own pace.
The computer keeps track of their progress, adapting automatically to provide extra practice where needed.
Teachers can monitor progress.
Lexia is being used in several schools in Redbridge LEA- contact SERC if you would like to contact one to establish how they are using it.
A Lexia consultant will come into school to deliver a demonstration and provide training for staff
